Why is life unfair but at the same time wise? The death of an unconditional friend is a strong pain, very difficult to deal with. However, sometimes you have to think without the heart in order to make difficult decisions. Ten years ago, we had a beautiful pet named Kiefer. I think Kiefer was really a partner to me and my family. He was our pride and protector many times. My family and I bred him as a son and we loved him very much. One day, he contracted an illness and the veterinarian said that Kiefer was going to die in a few days because that sickness didn’t have a solution. It was irreversible and we couldn’t do anything for him. The vet recommended euthanasia because our loyal pet had to rest in peace and stop suffering. We felt very unhappy and impotent, for this irrevocable situation. We had to make a quick decision to help him and we decided to put him to sleep forever. We cried for a long time because we believed Kiefer was one of the best friends in our lives, so tender and intelligent. Nevertheless, we carried this suffering because we understood that, in life, there are too many big pains that we have to deal with together as a family and we don’t have remorse because we are sure that it was the best for him.
