Do you think it is more important to follow your dreams or what your parents say about them? My parents always give me their support in my decisions. When I finished high school, I didn’t know what to study at the university, so I didn’t study enough for PSU test and they didn’t tell me anything, they didn’t force me to do anything that I didn’t want to. However, they always told me that when I finished high school, I had to go to the university. I’ve always been good at English subject, and when somebody asked me what subject I you preferred? My answer used to be English. Also I really liked helping and teaching people, so when I had to decide what was going to be my profession, I had to choose between tourism and pedagogy. Well, when I went to see my results of PSU test, I felt a little disappointed because I couldn’t study pedagogy, but a friend of mine help me with postulations and finally I enrolled in Tourism at the Valparaiso University. I felt very proud of me when I started to study at the university, but when the first semester finished I wasn’t pretty sure about my future and I didn’t know if I wanted to work in tourism all my life practically. However, I kept on and I did the second semester, but I realised I didn’t like that profession, because it wasn’t my passion. When I looked at my English teachers I started to think, and I really wanted to be like them. I wanted to teach English, help the students and be happy with that; but there was a problem, my parents. They had spent money and I didn’t know what to do, if follow my dreams or not. There are some parents that don’t allow their children study what they want. Fortunately, my parents gave me whole support that I needed as always. I started to work and I paid the PSU again, and now I’m study what I love to do, teach and help people. I’m going to be an English teacher!
