A Modest But Perfect Place

You will find no place as peaceful as my neighbourhood. When I wake up in the morning, there are little birds singing in the yard upon a huge tree that provides me shade. A few meters beyond, there are lots of houses, but most of the people are very quiet and peaceful. Hardly ever anything disturbing happens around my place. The smell of wet soil and grass in the afternoons is the best thing to smell when I go to buy some bread at “Tio Quenty”, a little supermarket near my home. When I’m coming back from the university, usually I can smell and even taste through the smell what other neighbors are cooking. But there’s a single detail that makes this place even more interesting. There’s a square but a square where you can still see children playing everyday. Some stray dogs lying on the ground are always waiting for someone to feed them. This is also a good place for reading or resting for a while when you need some fresh air. I think I had to learn to love this place when I started to live on my own. It’s been two years living in this place, and after this time I can assure that for anyone who enjoys a peaceful environment, without violence, noise and stress... my neighborhood will be the perfect place to stay.
